ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 21— Springfield Clinic of Springfield, Ill., has ordered two KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 Systems and two KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 975/825 Systems for its busy 6th Street imaging center. Located on the facility’s main campus that spans two city blocks, this outpatient imaging center serves 75 physicians and an on-site clinic that operates 365 days a year. The center performs more than 15,000 x-ray exams annually.
The physician-owned Springfield Clinic began with one location and five physician partners in 1939, but now includes 20 facilities in central Illinois that serve nearly 200 physicians and surgeons. The healthcare provider previously installed CR and DR systems from Carestream Health at Springfield Clinic 1st, its highest volume imaging center, located on 1st Street.
“The image quality and productivity of these systems is exceptional and meets the high standards expected by our specialists, physicians and staff. We are so pleased with the systems’ performance that we are now employing additional DR and CR platforms from Carestream Health at our second busiest facility,” said Frana Evans, BS, RT (R), Springfield Clinic’s Director of Radiology.
The imaging center’s dual-detector DR 7500 will be configured with both a wall stand and a flexible, pedestal table. The upright detector will be positioned behind the table to expedite cross-table lateral exams. The single-detector DR 7500 will be equipped with a mobile table. The CR 975 and CR 825 systems will primarily be used for fluoroscopy and long-length exams. A KODAK DRYVIEW 6800 Laser Imager is also being installed to output general radiography and digital mammography exams onto radiographic film, and a KODAK LS75 Film Digitizer will convert general radiography films into digital format as needed.
Evans notes that exams are available in as little as five to 10 minutes at the 1st Street location and she expects the same responsiveness at the 6th Street center. “Our physicians appreciate the speed offered by combining digital imaging technology with our PACS. Streamlining the capture and distribution of imaging studies allows our physicians to be more productive and offers greater convenience and time savings for patients.”
She adds that the practice plans to implement additional CR and DR systems from Carestream Health at other imaging centers in the coming years as part of its conversion from film to digital imaging.
